FC Südtirol beat Treviso 2-1

On the eighth matchday of the second half of the season, FC Südtirol had to make do without captain Hannes Kiem and the ailing Alessandro Furlan Platz against second-to-bottom Treviso, who had only managed to pick up two points away this season.

Furlan's place in midfield was taken by Hannes Fink. Emanuele Testardi was chosen by coach Stefano Vecchi as the only striker from the start for the first time this season. The match was a very special game for Marco Martin, who grew up near Treviso and was also able to play four games in Serie B with this club.

For the FCS, the game in the Drusus Stadium started perfectly. The Vecchi protégés were already able to celebrate in the sixth minute. Thiam crossed the ball from the left side into the middle, where Zammuto directed the ball into his own goal.

Thiam involved in all dangerous actions

Just 120 seconds later, Thiam was involved in the next dangerous move when he laid the ball on for Fink. But his shot went well over the goal. After around a quarter of an hour, after a bad pass from Piccioni, Campo sent on the very eye-catching Thiam, whose cross found no taker in the penalty area of the overwhelmed guests (14th).

Just five minutes later, Thiam returned the favor with a nice pass to Campo, whose shot was too central. No problems for goalkeeper Tonozzi. There was no sign of Treviso at all in these first 20 minutes. Marcone spent a leisurely afternoon on the opposite side and was able to enjoy the spring sunshine.

Offside goal canceled After almost half an hour, Testardi tested Treviso goalie Tonozzi with a shot, but it was also too central and was therefore easy prey for the visitors' goalkeeper. A little later, the FCS celebrated for the second time when Bassoli pushed the ball into the net. The referee canceled the goal because it was offside.

After that, the match, which had been very entertaining up to that point, petered out and became increasingly tougher. Treviso defended with all their might, while FC Südtirol slowed down, found only a few spaces and therefore no longer had any significant chances.

Treviso equalizes After the break, the FCS started very powerfully. After just two minutes, Fink tried a chip that Tonozzi directed over the crossbar. Five minutes later, Tonozzi fended off Thiam's advance too short and the ball went to Testardi, who failed to place the ball in the empty goal.

The guests had their first chance to equalize in the 56th minute. After Iacoponi fouled Strizzolo, the referee awarded a penalty, which Tarantino took without any problems.

Another goal is not given The goal unsettled the White-Reds. Vecchi reacted and substituted Furlan and Branca for Fink and Uliano respectively in the 63rd minute. But now Treviso was wide awake and almost made it 68-2 in the 1th minute if Burato hadn't shot too accurately and hit the post. After this action it was also over for Testardi (69th), who had to give up his place for Maritato. A substitution that was to have consequences.

After that, the home team became dangerous again. This time Campo tried, firing a free kick with his strong left foot at the Treviso goal. Tonozzi outdid himself and directed the ball over the goal with a great save.

Thiam prepares the winning goal

A little later, FC Südtirol was denied a second goal and the referee again ruled it offside. Campo had hit one of his dreaded free-kick crosses, which Cappelletti nodded in completely free-standing at the far post (77'). Five minutes before the end of regular time, the home team was able to celebrate.

Thiam fought for the ball, crossed into the middle, where Maritato, who had just been substituted, headed it in. It was the attacker's fifth goal in FCS uniform, which justified Vecchi's trust with the winning goal.

The FCS then rocked home the victory, but there was no rebellion from the guests in the last few minutes.
