FC Südtirol starts with a “threesome”

Mister Stroppa had to do without the suspended Lima and the injured Sarzi and Girasole in the opening game. The coach had his team start in a 3-5-2 system and brought in Mladen, Tagliani and Bassoli as a trio in defense, Bertoni as a playmaker and the Maritato-Tulli pair in attack. Coser guarded the goal. Two South Tyroleans, Tait and Fink, were also in the starting line-up.

The home team had the first chance, but Brega missed after around five minutes. The white and reds then took the scepter into their hands. Fink fed Tulli in the eighth minute, but Amadori failed to score. Just 120 seconds later, Maritato got stuck on Albinoleffe's goalie.

In the 17th minute, Fink tried it himself, but his shot from close range went just past the post and into the goal. Just seven minutes later, Bassoli forced Amadori to do something brilliant.

After half an hour the redeeming opening goal came for the visiting team. Checcucci touched the ball with his hand after a corner and a penalty was awarded. Maritato safely converted this to make it 1-0 (31st).

Tullis 2-0 is annulled

As a result, the FCS managed the result. Shortly before the break, Albinoleffe had another chance, but Brega's long-range shot didn't cause Coser too much trouble.

The second half of the game didn't offer any real excitement for a long time. It was only a quarter of an hour before the end that Tulli celebrated the supposed 2-0, but this was not given because the attacker was supposedly offside.

Even after that, Stroppa's protégés cleverly kept the ball in their ranks - as they had done since the game restarted - and saved the narrow lead over time.

The Stroppa 2.0 era began with an important victory for the FCS.

FC Südtirol starts with a “threesome”

The FCS got off to a perfect start on Sunday in Bergamo. The White-Reds beat Albinoleffe 1-0 after a hard-fought game. Center forward Maritato scored the winning goal with a penalty in the 31st minute.
