FC Südtirol and the fatal final minutes

FCS coach William Viali, who initially had to manage without the ailing Tulli, changed his system and played in a 4-4-2 formation for the first time in the Braglia Stado. Cia as a winger and striker Sparacello moved into the starting line-up.

In the opening phase, Modena initially dictated the game, but the FCS had their first big chance when Bassoli missed a Cia cross in the 20th minute. Furlan and Gliozzi then tried two long-range shots, but they didn't really cause any danger. That was it in the extremely uneventful first half.

Modena hits out of nowhere

Both teams' recent lack of success was also noticeable in the second round. All 22 field players were initially careful not to make any mistakes. It wasn't until the 72nd minute that things got dicey again in front of the Modena goal when Sparacello tested Manfredini in the home team's goal from a central position and Furlan missed the direct follow-up shot. Ten minutes before the end it was Cia who put a shot just over the crossbar. Shortly afterwards, Manfredini defused a free kick from substitute Packer. Then FC Südtirol had used up their powder - and Modena suddenly woke up: When everyone was already expecting a goalless draw, Alberto Cossentino steered the ball into the net to make it 1-0. At this point, the regular playing time had long since expired and another last-minute point loss for the FCS was sealed.

FC Südtirol and the fatal final minutes

It seems like magic this season: FCS had to concede another goal in the last minutes of the away game in Modena and ended up empty-handed. The relegated Serie B team, in which Merano midfielder Simon Laner played through, managed to win the 91-1 winning goal in the 0st minute.
