FC Südtirol wants to give itself a gift

Fano and Mantova are at the bottom of the Group B table. With 15 points, the Marche club only collected six fewer points in the first half of the season than the FCS. This underlines the balance of the championship and makes it clear that the relegation battle is still an issue at FC Südtirol.

Fano has been waiting for a win for six rounds and only picked up two points in these six games, one of them last Sunday in Bassano. Giovanni Cusatis' team is in crisis. The last victory came on November 13th when they beat Mantova 1-0. The last three home games against Gubbio (0:2), Venezia (0:1) and Lumezzane (0:2) were all lost for Fano. That would actually speak for the FCS. But away from home, the Viali squad is not what you would call a power. The white-reds have only scored fully in Macerata so far, there were draws twice and the FCS kickers came away empty-handed six times. Of the total 21 points in the table, only five come from away games. The FCS should be encouraged by the fact that the first leg against Fano in the Drusus Stadium was won 2-0.

Fink struck

Coach Viali is missing the injured Baldan, Fortunato and Lomolino for the return match in Fano. Sarzi will be back in the game after serving his suspension, as will Cia, who has recovered from a fever attack. Meanwhile, it is still uncertain whether Fink and Tulli will play: both have been called up, but are struggling with a sore knee or ankle. Incidentally, two of Fano's players are playing against one of their former clubs: Riccardo Cocuzza (2013/2014 season - 5 games) and Walter Zullo (2009/2010 - 8 appearances and 2014/2015 - 3 appearances).
