The FCS loses in Pavia with its head held high

The new FC Südtirol coach had to do without the suspended full-back Mladen in the difficult away game. He fielded Martin, Tagliani, Kiem and Tait on defense. Before that, Furlan acted, while Fink and Branca were supposed to support the storm trio of Marras, Fiwickeler and Shekiladze.

The ex-FCS players are whirling

The game started very badly for the guests: after just five minutes, former FCS playmaker Pederzoli let Fink and Kiem out and fed Cardin, who made it 1-0. Just five minutes later, Ferretti, who was completely alone, increased the score to 2-0. This time, however, the Stroppa team showed a reaction. First, a deflected shot from Branca caused danger, then a shot from Fink was blocked. However, FC Südtirol were rewarded in the 33rd minute: after a Marras cross, Filehner was there and pushed the ball over the line from close range. But just at the moment when the South Tyroleans were gaining new courage, Pavia restored their old two-goal lead. Ex-FCS striker Marchi took advantage of a mistake by Tagliani to make it 3-1.

Fischler makes things exciting again

Even after the break, the Lombards initially remained in control. Pederzoli once again caused a moment of shock for the opposing defense with a free kick. But Melgrati was vigilant. On the other side, Fischnitzer's shot was just over the goal in the 58th minute. Stroppa then brought on Novothny for an unremarkable Shekiladze – and the Hungarian striker was immediately expected to take center stage. He was brought down in the penalty area in the 61st minute and the referee promptly pointed to the spot. Fischnitzer converted the penalty dryly. The signee once again caused excitement with his 14th goal of the season. However, FC Südtirol's final offensive was not successful. In the end, the hoped-for point gain didn't work out.

The FCS loses in Pavia with its head held high

FC Südtirol remained without a point on the third-to-last matchday of the Lega Pro. The white-reds had to admit defeat to second-placed Pavia 2-3, despite a clear increase in performance under new coach Giovanni Stroppa. Due to the defeat in Monza, relegation is still assured.
