Gladbach's example was quickly followed by players from other Bundesliga clubs: At record champions Bayern Munich, players initially forego 20 percent of their wages until the end of April. Other first division clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt have taken similar measures or are in discussions with the professionals. PREMIER LEAGUE (England): Only two of the 20 clubs from the English Premier League reached an agreement with their professionals on a salary waiver by Monday. Technically, it's a salary deferral. Many football professionals from the Premier League are said to have expressed their willingness to forego their salary. However, a league-wide agreement on this was not achieved. The Premier League specifically suggested to its players that they forego 30 percent of their wages or defer this amount - without success. At the beginning of April, the professionals from Atlético Madrid followed suit, also agreeing to a 70 percent pay cut. Recently, record champions Real Madrid also announced a reduction in salaries, but only by ten percent. If the 2019/20 season is canceled, the cut would be 20 percent, the club said. LEAGUE 1 (France): According to media reports, France's professional football associations agreed on a temporary wage cut. Accordingly, the agreement provided for a gradual reduction in wages until the suspended funds for television broadcasts flowed again.
