Certainly: Werder Bremen's glory days are a few years ago. This season, the Green-Whites narrowly avoided relegation to the second division of German football. But when it comes to youth work, the North Germans are one of the model clubs in the world champion country. This year, for example, Bremen's under-19 team only lost to Hoffenheim in the semi-finals of the final round of the German championship.

Been in contact with Werder for a long time So it's not surprising that Straudi chose the club on the Weser. “We had been in contact with Werder Bremen for a long time,” explains the business school student. Last summer he took part in a tournament with Werder, a kind of trial training session, and those in charge noticed him very positively back then. “A commitment was out of the question because the squad planning for the upcoming season had already been completed at the time.” So in January, Straudi had to travel to Bremen, more than 750 kilometers away, for an introductory training session, where he finally convinced the club of his abilities and earned a contract for the upcoming season. It was a drastic event for the 17-year-old - after all, from July onwards he had to leave his friends, family and football colleagues behind. The dream of becoming a professional footballer comes a lot closer with the change of club. In Bremen, Straudi will be pulling the strings in the midfield of the U-19 team in the future, living in a boarding school but also going to a normal school at the same time.

A player with Serie A potential Simon Straudi has always been considered a promising talent who was seen in many places as having a future in the professional business. Even FCS sports director Luca Piazzi once said in an interview that the boy from Bruneck had the potential of a Serie A player. The midfielder with a strong ability to score, who also has fine technique and a very strong understanding of the game for his age, was therefore allowed to complete his preparation with the FCS first team in the summer.

During the championship, as a player born in 1999, he was the youngest in the Berretti team squad, but as a regular player he was one of the most important pillars in the team and, as a reward, was allowed to take a seat on the professional bench on the last Lega Pro matchday, although he did not take part to be used. Now a new adventure begins for Simon Straudi. And who knows: Maybe the often crazy world of football has a surprise in store for the talented young footballer.
