English week in the national league: Stegen is looking for a way out

“One thing is clear, we are not a tennis club!” Josef “Pepi” Schacher, the impulsive president of ASV Stegen, does not mince his words, the sting after the 1:6 rebuff against St. Martin is too deep. Schacher adds: “I cannot and will not accept such a result. We have to score points in the next two games, otherwise we have to deal with the 1st amateur league.” Stegen is deep in the table with eleven goals conceded and only one point after four matchdays. Over the course of the season so far, the young team has revealed major coordination problems in the defensive area and a lack of composure in front of the opponent's goal.

However, the Pusterers have the potential to find their way out of the crisis in Sarnthein on Wednesday. “Our aim must be a place in the midfield. So far we haven't been able to live up to our performance and we weren't lucky in a number of scenes. Now we have to pull the lever,” said President Schacher.

The situation looks different with the opponent from the Sarntal. The newcomer was able to convince with courageous performances at times and had already caused one or two opponents to waver. Last Sunday, however, a good performance wasn't enough to bring Virtus Don Bosco to its knees. Sarntal had to admit defeat 0-2 and suffered its first defeat of the season after two draws and one win. So it's time to make amends on Wednesday evening. Kick-off at the Sarnthein sports field is at 20 p.m.
