English week in the Oberliga: South Tyrol in derby fever

ASV Salurn – ASC St. Georgen In one of the five derbies, the role of favorite is clearly taken, namely the guest appearance of leader St. Georgen at table laggard Salurn. The Pusterers have won all of the last six championship games and now want to shake off their worst opponent Levico with another “threesome”. Salurn, however, should be well prepared, especially since the Unterlanders may have used the 0-3 defeat in the Italian Cup last year to explore the strengths of the “Jergina” offensive bulwark. Salurn urgently needs a win to move away from the bottom of the table.

Bozner FC – FC St. Pauls

The situation is similarly tense at newly promoted St. Pauls. After the derby defeat in Tramin on Sunday, the Überetscher suffered their next defeat in the home game against Levico. The 0-4 defeat will now be followed by a defiant reaction against Bozner FC on Wednesday. The Talferstadt team, for their part, gained a huge dose of self-confidence in the 2-0 win in Brixen. Fabio Bertoldi and Co. now want to step up their game in the home game against their former teammate Hannes Fiwickeler and the team from St. Pauls and thereby climb further up the table.

SSV Ahrntal – SSV Brixen

In the immediate vicinity of Bozner FC is SSV Brixen, who suffered their first defeat of the season on Sunday. With the away game in St. Johann, the next tough task awaits coach Martin Wachtler's team. SSV Ahrntal has never lost at home this season and will do everything in its power to extend this streak beyond the eighth matchday.

FC Eppan – SC St. Martin in Passeier

Two direct neighbors in the table will also meet at the Eppaner Rungghof on Wednesday. A favorite can hardly be identified in the duel between the FCE and the guests from St. Martin, although the “Psairer” will travel south with a big chest after the home win against Lavis. Eppan, meanwhile, will do everything it can to get back on the road to success after three winless games in a row.

ASV Tramin – AS Virtus Don Bosco

The fifth South Tyrolean derby between Tramin and Virtus Don Bosco also promises pure excitement. Both teams have won their last two competitive games and are now aiming for their third win in a row. The Traminers are the draw kings of the league (five draws) and at the same time, together with Alense, the only team that has been unbeaten so far. “The away match in Tramin will be a real test,” says Virtus coach Roberto Cortese, who wants to move up the table even further with ambitious newcomers.
