EUROPEADA: South Tyrol manages to defend its title

Then, out of nowhere, the South Tyroleans took the lead. Theo Pamer jumped on the ball when a defender wanted to clean it up and his direct pass went straight into the far corner. 1-0 for South Tyrol in the tenth minute.

Afterwards, the white-reds, who played in red, withdrew a bit and tried to control the game with strong defense. Nevertheless, the Villgrater team kept having chances, the biggest one coming from Hansi Mair after just over half an hour. After a foul on Fischer in the penalty area, the referee pointed to the spot, Mair grabbed the ball, but shoveled the penalty over the crossbar (33').

Five minutes later, Fischer flicked the ball delicately towards the far corner - from a distance of almost 20 meters, but goalkeeper Norbert Jakob made a long effort and was able to fend off the ball.

Peter Mair, bomber of the nation The second goal came in the last minute of the first half. Theo Pamer shot from a tight angle, Jakob couldn't hold on to the ball and Peter Mair stood where he was supposed to and scored from close range.

After the break, two minutes had been played when Ritsch could have made it 3-0 with a double chance, but he shot at the goalkeeper on his first attempt and over the goal on his second attempt.

Roma approach again

On the other hand, the Hungarians did better. Rellich clearly played the ball in a duel with Viczian, but the referee still pointed to the spot. Lakatos stepped up and safely converted the gift. 2:1 – and the first goal conceded at this Europeada for Pietersteiner & Co was scored.

In the 71st minute, Fischer made the decision. From 23 meters he took a picture-perfect free kick that fit perfectly into the corner of the cross. Jakob was still there, but he was no longer able to defend the ball decisively.

The South Tyroleans then cleverly let the ball run in their own ranks, closed the gap at the back and Ritsch almost made it 4-1 at the front (81'). But it remained 3-1 and after the final whistle, the South Tyroleans' joy knew no bounds. They were wildly celebrated by the spectators in the main stand.

EUROPEADA: South Tyrol manages to defend its title

Thanks to a 3-1 final win against Roma from Hungary, South Tyrol won the European Championship for linguistic minorities in front of 1600 spectators in Bautzen on Saturday afternoon and defended the title it won four years ago.
