Europeada: Cynical South Tyroleans are in the semi-finals

The Occitans repeatedly tried long passes from the central defenders or central midfielders to the front, where they were looking for the strong Bru - a beefy center forward of the Christian Vieri brand. And the South Tyrolean defenders had problems with that. This was also the case five minutes after the opening goal, when Bru overcame the South Tyrolean goalie with a lob after a misunderstanding between Pietersteiner and Rellich and the ball bounced off the top of the crossbar.

South Tyrol, who had to play with Christian Rainer injured, found it difficult to get into the game because the Occitans were closed in midfield. Manfred Villgrater's players increasingly moved to the sides, but the crosses from the wings found no takers. With the flattering lead we went to the changing rooms.

After the break, the South Tyroleans got into the game better. On the one hand, this was because the Villgrater team was able to adapt better to the Occitans. On the other hand, the “brain” of the French, Lantier, had to leave the field injured. After just four minutes, Hansi Mair sailed centimeters past the ball after a cross from Peter Mair. On the other side, Amiel shot just over.

The next chance also belonged to the Occitans, but Bru's shot also went over the goal, which was guarded by Pietersteiner. In the 59th minute, Peter Mair fired a powerful shot that Lebo was able to parry. Just 60 seconds later, it was again the South Tyrolean number 9 who forced the goalkeeper into a brilliant act after a one-two with Fischer.

The South Tyroleans' second goal came from the following corner when Hansi Mair was in the right position and put the ball into the Occitans' box (60'). This meant that a preliminary decision had been made in Radibor and the resistance of the southern French had been broken.

Semi-final on Friday at 16 p.m. against Croatians in Serbia The South Tyroleans only celebrated once more, namely in the 73rd minute, when Ritsch scored with a left-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area to make it 3-0. On the other hand, there was applause for Hannes Firiegeller, who only hit the crossbar after a side kick.

Thanks to the victory, the White-Reds have qualified for the semi-finals, which will take place on Friday at 16 p.m. in Crostwitz. South Tyrol will then meet the Croatian minority in Serbia. In the second semi-final, however, the Carinthian Slovenes and the Roma from Hungary face each other.
