FC Südtirol: We need our first away win

The FCS has ten points after six games in the 1st Division Lega Pro. Ten points that Hannes Kiem & Co. scored almost exclusively in front of their own audience. However, the Vecchi team only scored a single point away from home. FC Südtirol achieved this on the first matchday against Albinoleffe (1:1). Afterwards there were defeats against Lumezzane and San Marino.

Now the second-to-last Treviso in the “Omobono Tenni” stadium should turn things around and achieve their first win on foreign soil since March 18, 2012. The Veneto club only has one point to its name (another was deducted due to a penalty point) and has already conceded 14 goals this season. That is the negative value in the third league.

The FCS is therefore correspondingly optimistic. “The home win against Cuneo gave us a lot of confidence. The weekend match was probably our best game so far. Now it is important to provide these services with continuity. That’s why I expect a great FC Südtirol on foreign soil,” coach Stefano Vecchi was quoted as saying in a press release from the White-Reds.

In Treviso, trainer Vecchi has to make do without the injured Riccardo Bocalon and Jonas Clementi. Valon Ahmedi will also not be playing as he has just returned from the qualifying games with the Albania U-19 team.

Vecchi is not expected to make any major changes to the starting lineup. In defense, Alessandro Bassoli and Daniel Cappelletti should be used as man-markers, as well as Simone Iacoponi, whose brace led to the win on Sunday against Cuneo and Marco Martin on the wings. There are no changes in the midfield either: Furlan-Uliano-Branca will form the three-man midfield. In attack, Mame Baba Thiam could act as a central point of reference, while Alessandro Campo, Hannes Fink and Riccardo Pasi will fight for the two free positions on the wing.

The opponent Treviso was still active in the Serie A and Serie B championships until a few years ago, before the light blue-whites were forced to relegate to the top league at the end of the 2008/2009 season. In the last two years, Treviso rose from Serie D through the second division to the first – each time as champions.

So far, Agenore Maurizi's team has not been able to convince anyone. So far, points have only been scored against Albinoleffe and Portogruaro, while the remaining five games have been against Cuneo (1:2), Virtus Entella (1:4), Trapani (2:3), Lecce (1:3) and Cremonese (0:2). ended in defeat.
