FC Südtirol gives up what was believed to be a certain victory

Stefano Vecchi's team was again able to count on defense chief and FCS top scorer Simone Iacoponi, who was suspended last Sunday, and only have to do without Jonas Clementi. The FCS has won most of its 21 points at home and has only achieved one win and two draws away from home.

Alessandro Furlan took advantage of the first real opportunity to score in the 29th minute to give FC Südtirol the lead. After a commotion in front of the Entella goal, the ball came to the White-Red midfielder, who took heart on the edge of the penalty area and smashed the ball into the net.

Even after the break it was the same picture: FC Südtirol did little forward, but knew how to nip the opposing attacks in the bud. Chances to score were few and far between until the 65th minute, but then Maritato appeared twice: first he headed just wide of the goal, and a short time later a shot from the FCS striker whizzed past the outside post. However, Entella did not give up and, driven by the tireless Vanucchi, tried to equalize. When Rosso chased a direct shot just over the crossbar in the 89th minute, alarm bells should have been ringing at FCS. But the Vecchi troops continued to treat their lead carelessly and were finally punished in the 93rd minute: Staiti served Rosso again with a cross, who didn't allow himself to be asked a second time and headed the ball into the net. This was also the last scene of the game. FC Südtirol, who dominated the game for long stretches, lost two important points.

Up until the 93rd minute, FC Südtirol looked like a sure winner in the away game against Virtus Entella in Chiavari, but a last-minute goal from the home side ultimately cost the white and red the "three points". The FCS now has to share third place in the table with Trapani.
