FC Südtirol gains two goals against Prato and plays a draw

South Tyrol welcomed the team from Tuscany in third place in the Drusus Stadium in Bolzano. After a series of five games without defeat (three wins and two draws), the white-reds were heavy favorites against fourth-from-last Prato. In addition, Prato had lost all four away games played so far.

In addition to the long-term injured Thomas Albanese and Luca Franchini, FCS coach Giovanni Stroppa also had to do without Marco Martin today. Syracuse's match-winner was replaced by Iacoponi on the left while Grea lined up on the right. Stroppa chose Matteo Chinellato in the attack.

After the break, Prato increased the pressure. Both teams came onto the field unchanged. In the 60th minute, Piantoni won a corner that Pisanu took. Iacobucci jumped into space and Benedetti took advantage of the goalkeeper's mistake to take the lead 1-0. After over 400 minutes, Iacobucci conceded the first goal again. Two minutes later the goalkeeper made amends for his mistake and made a brilliant save for Cavagna. Then events came to a head. First Hannes Fink only hit the outside post, then Benedetti could only be stopped by Grea in the penalty area with a foul. Pisanu converted the penalty to make it 2-0. FC Südtirol reacted immediately and reduced the score to 69:1 in the 2th minute with Andreas Schenetti. The white-reds now put everything on one card. In the 77th minute, a shot from Iuliano hit the crossbar, on the counterattack Silva Resi passed to Varutti, Iacobucci saved into the corner. The equalizer finally came in the 87th minute. Franco Chiavarini scored with a hammer free kick into the top corner to make it 2-2. The encounter ended in the 94th minute when Sacenti, who had been substituted just two minutes earlier, saw red after a nasty foul on Schenetti. It remained 2:2, definitely a point gained for the FCS.
