FC Südtirol lands a mandatory victory in Fano

Zanetti had to do without the injured Fink and Cess on Sunday afternoon. The captain was replaced by Broh, the armband was now worn by Cia. Frascatore also returned to the starting lineup.

The game began with a moment of shock for the guests: Immediately after kick-off, a long ball surprised the FCS backline and Filippi stormed alone towards goalkeeper Offredi, but the white-red number one reacted brilliantly. Zanetti's protégés then gathered together and gradually pushed in front of the opponent's goal. In the 18th minute the ball finally found its way into the net when center forward Costantino hit the target from a half turn. Previously he was brilliantly staged by Cia. After that, FC Südtirol stayed on the trigger and created several good opportunities, but Costantino and Cia remained unlucky. Shortly before the half-time whistle, the home team became dangerous again. However, there was not more than one top-class chance from an offside position.

Offredi saves a penalty in the 98th minute

After the restart, Fano goalkeeper Miori barely defused a failed cross from Frascatore. On the other side, Offredi was there for a free kick from Germinale. After that, the game plodded along without any team really threatening to score. Fano had trouble designing the game, the FCS only did the bare minimum.

It wasn't until the final phase that emotions started to run high again, but in a real way: First, substitute Rolfini was sent off for protesting. Fano coach and the substituted FCS player Berardocco also had to go to the stands. In the 98th minute (!) Fioretti fell in the penalty area and the referee awarded a dubious penalty. Fioretti competed himself and found his match in Offredi. The FCS goalkeeper held on to the hard-fought “threesome”.

With this victory, FC Südtirol moves up to eighth place in the table.

The FCS remains undefeated in the seventh championship game in a row. In the away game at the bottom of the table, Fano, coach Paolo Zanetti's team struggled to a 1-0 win.
