FC Südtirol lost 0-2 at home to Gubbio

After the first half it was all over for the FCS, as the two goals from the 26th and 39th minutes were enough for Gubbio to take home the three points. The FCS tried to turn the game around in the second half, but a yellow-red card from Marco Martin in the 75th minute made the attempt a lot more difficult.

In the opening minutes, FC Südtirol gave the field to the leaders from Gubbio. There were also some uncertainties in the first few minutes when it came to accuracy in the passing game. In the 10th minute, FCS appeared dangerous in front of Gubbio's goal for the first time. Alessandro Campo crossed a corner directly in front of the opponent's goal and Lammanna had to intervene with his fists. Five minutes later Gubbio had his first significant opportunity. Farina broke through on the left and played into the penalty area to Donnarumma, who was not covered closely enough by the defense. FCS goalkeeper Davide Zomer was able to block his shot from the shot without any problems.

As a result, FC Südtirol got a better grip on the leaders and launched a few attacks, which, however, mostly ended at the edge of the penalty area. However, in the 26th minute, Gubbio took the lead. After a free kick from the right by Sandreani, the FCS defense showed some uncertainty, Boisfer reacted quickest and took the lead for the league leaders.

In the 30th minute, Caracciolo fouled Alessandro Campo as he passed him. Alessandro Campo hit the free kick from the right between the penalty area and the touchline onto the post. Hannes Kiem would have been standing in front of the goal ready to take a shot. In the 39th minute it was 2-0 for the guest from Umbria. An exemplary pass from Sandreani through the middle reached Donnarumma on the edge of the penalty area and with a loose shot he slammed the ball past the completely bewildered and motionless Davide Zomer into the goal.

Just a few minutes later (41st), Alessandro Campo played free on the edge of the opponent's penalty area, but his touchdown only touched the post and bounced back into the field from there. After a minute of added time, referee Ripa sent both teams to the dressing rooms.

Only five minutes had been played in the second half and Gubbio was once again dangerous in front of the FCS goal. Only an offside position from Galano – after a remarkable pass from Sandreani – prevented the leaders from having another chance to score. In the 54th minute it was Donnarumma who took advantage of a slip by central defender Hannes Kiem to make an advance. But his diagonal shot went past Davide Zomer on the right and past the goal.

Immediately after the double substitution (Alfredo Romano and Manuel Fiwickeler came on for Alessandro Campo and Andrea Burato), Alessandro Furlan hit a long-range shot just over the Gubbio goal. Things got even worse for the FCS in the 75th minute. After a foul by Marco Martin on Sandreani, the FCS defender had to leave the field after the second yellow card with yellow-red. As a result, the FCS continued to try to turn the game around, but nothing useful - i.e. goals - came out of it.

Gubbio controlled the game and didn't let anything go wrong until the end.

After the 4-0 defeat in the first leg, there was also a defeat in the new year. Kiem & Co. lost 0-2 to the league leaders.
