FCS confirms: Stefano Vecchi is the new coach

Stefano Vecchi signed a one-year contract with the White-Reds with an option for a further year. On Friday, June 15th, he and his coaching staff will be officially presented to the press in Bolzano.

Stefano Vecchi was born on July 20, 1971 in Bergamo and began his career as a coach at US Mapello. With this he quickly won the Lombardy regional league - that was in the 2005/2006 season.

This was followed by three years at Serie D club US Colognese, the team from Cologno al Serio in the province of Bergamo, where he made it into the top ten three times. He then moved to the province of Milan, to SS Tritium 1908, where he immediately made it into the 1st division of the Lega Pro. In 2009/2010 he won the Serie D championship and in 2010/2011 he reached first place in Group A of the 2nd Division.

That year he also celebrated winning the Lega Pro Supercup. Last season, Vecchi coached the Spal team in the 1st division of the Lega Pro. With the club from Ferrara he narrowly failed to stay in the league. The team went into the championship with eight penalties at the beginning of the season, collected 42 points by the end and had to go into the play out, where Spal lost out.

New coaching staff

It's not just Vecchi who will be new at FC Südtirol. The coaching staff consists of assistant coach Stefano Manfioletti, fitness coach Fabio Trentin, goalie coach Reinhold Harrasser, as well Luca Bozzini , who is responsible for analyzing the opposing teams.

Stefano Manfioletti was born in Trento in 1962 and is probably one of the best-known and most qualified trainers in the Trentino South Tyrol region. At the moment he is in the process of completing the first class diploma trainer training in Coverciano. He has coached the team from Mori in the league for the past three years and was previously a coach in Serie D for eight seasons at Arco, Mezzocorona, Albiano and FC Bozen 96. The Trento coach has won five league championship titles in his career (two with US Arco, and one each with AC Mezzocorona, with ASD Albiano and with FC Bozen 96).

Fabio Trentino – born in 1983 – began his career with AC Chievo Verona’s national youth team. This was followed by three seasons in Serie D at Domegliara before he joined AC Mezzocorona two years ago and demonstrated his skills there in the 2nd division of the Lega Pro (2010/2011) and this year in Serie D. Trentin is a sports scientist and, after completing his studies, obtained a trainer's license for professional fitness training in Coverciano.

The goalie coach is probably well known to many South Tyroleans. Reinhold Harrasser was born on August 11, 1972 in Bolzano and currently lives in Barbian. During his active career - which lasted until the end of the 90s - he was, among other things, goalkeeper for FC Südtirol for four years, one year in the regional league, one year in the upper league and two years in Serie D.

He then moved to Austria, where he worked at SVG Reichenau (Regional League), at FC Tirol Innsbruck (Bundesliga), again at SVG Reichenau (1st Division, equivalent to the Italian Serie B), at SV Wörgl (1st Division) and WSG Wattens (1st Division) continued his career. He already worked as a goalie coach in the youth sector of the FCS last season, also worked at the SEL Junior Camps and helped St. Georgen in Serie D.

As SportNews had already reported exclusively last week, Stefano Vecchi will lead the fortunes of FC Südtirol in the 2012st division of the Lega Pro in the 13/1 season.
