FCS sports director Aladino Valoti: “First of all, we need a coach”

Mr. Valoti, what impressions do you have after starting your job at FC Südtirol? “The club welcomed me brilliantly. The first contact was very pleasant, I have now met several people in the club environment, visited the training center in Rungg and have laid the first foundations for my future work.”

What will your work look like in the coming weeks?

“First of all, a successor to Alberto Colombo must be found ( Last year's FCS coach is about to move to Vicenza, editor's note ). He will dictate his playing philosophy and tactical orientation, which we will then use to navigate the transfer market. We will get to work immediately because time is short.”

Do you already have potential reinforcements in your kitty?

“Of course I have numerous players on my watch list, and I have already had initial discussions with some of them. But the top priority now is to find a coach. With the new trainer we will try to complete the squad by the start of training in mid-July.”

The current squad only includes seven players who have a contract for the coming season. So will there be a personnel change?

“These players, especially Fink, Cia and Tait, form the team structure. Of course there will be a lot of new arrivals, but we will also have discussions with one or two of the players from last season - provided they are not already in contact with higher-class clubs. We will then fill the squad with young talent. I have rarely seen a club that places such high value on its youth work. That’s also why I find the job at FC Südtirol so appealing.”

You have signed a three-year contract, so you are planning a long-term stay with FCS. What are your goals?

“It is still too early to talk about clear goals. The fact is that I see the opportunity to achieve really big things at FC Südtirol. A lot is in the development phase here, from the training center to personnel changes at the sporting level. The club leadership creates all the conditions to have a significant say in Italian professional football in the long term. I would like to accompany and stimulate this development.”
