FCS underlines its home strength and also defeats Vicenza

The White Reds have been on a positive trend for two games after the 5-0 home win against Santarcangelo and the 0-0 draw at Renate. Before the match, the guests from Vicenza were in ninth place in the table with 15 points, three points more than coach Zanetti's team. With yesterday's win, the FCS has drawn level with Vicenza. At home in the Drusus Stadium, FC Südtirol took ten of the total 1 points in the table with four wins, one draw and one defeat against Bassano (2:15).

Against Vicenza of former White Reds coach Alberto Colombo, coach Zanetti had to do without the suspended Baldan and the injured Zanchi. The starting eleven was confirmed as that of the games against Santarcangelo and Renate.

First chance to score after just a few seconds

After just a few seconds, FC Südtirol became dangerous for the first time. Fink brought a great ball from the left into the middle of the penalty area, but Costantino's header was too light and was safely held by Valentini.

The White Reds stayed ahead and had their next big opportunity in the seventh minute. Berardocco's cross pass was headed to Fink by Costantino in Vicenza's box. He tried to finish, but a defender intervened and blocked the shot.

Cia and Tait at their best

Coach Zanetti's team continued to attack constantly and had the game firmly under control. The Cia/Tait duo were in top form and have already created numerous scoring opportunities.

In the 23rd minute, FCS was once again very close to taking the lead. Sgarbi opened the scoring with a long ball to Frascatore on the left wing. He crossed the ball brilliantly into the middle of the box, where Cia shot and narrowly missed the opponent's goal.

Vicenza never became particularly dangerous during the first half and increasingly retreated into their own half. Shortly before the half-time whistle, the FCS became extremely dangerous again. Berardocco's excellent cross pass landed at Costantino, who got past two defenders and got past the opposing keeper, but his shot from a tight angle was blocked by Milesi.

Vicenza's first shot on goal in the 55th minute

Vicenza were much better on the field in the first minutes of the second period and had their first opportunity to score in the 10th minute. Romizi sent Lanini with a long ball to the right wing, who shot away, but Offredi saved with ease.

The White Reds were then able to regain control and had another great chance to take the lead in the 29th minute. Gyasi defended a ball on the edge of the penalty area and then fired a precise and powerful left-footed shot that didn't miss its target by far.

Own goal brought the decision

In the 78th minute, FC Südtirol scored the lead: Bertoni crossed the ball into the middle of the box, where Bianchi got to the ball in front of Fink at the height of the far post and put it into his own box.

A minute later, Valentini showed all his skills and excellently blocked a powerful long-range shot from Gyasi. Cia's follow-up shot was also parried by the Vicenza keeper.

The game ended with 1-0 for FC Südtirol. For the White Reds it was the third positive result in a row and the second win in the last three matchdays.
