The season ends with a defeat for the FCS

Since the FCS had already secured relegation before the start of the game and no longer had the playoff places in its sights, the white-red's main priority was to end a failed season as best as possible. Coach Alberto Colombo had to make do without the injured Fink, Sarzi, Di Nunzio, Obodo and Bassoli and therefore sent his starting eleven onto the field in a 3-5-2 system. In addition to the two regular players Fabian Tait and Michael Cia, a third kicker from the province, Gabriel Brugger, was allowed to play from the start.

FC Südtirol got off to a dream start in Mantua and took the lead in the 5th minute: Ettore Gliozzi benefited from an opponent's mistake and scored with a lob to make it 1-0. However, the white-red lead didn't last for a quarter of an hour, as Mantovas Regoli, who did everything right after a pass from Caridi, scored the equalizer in the 19th minute. A little later things got even better for the home team: Di Santantonio came from a good position to finish and scored with a well-placed shot to make it 2-1. With this score we went into the dressing rooms.

Right at the start, the FCS conceded its third goal. Defender Riccardi lost the ball to Caridi on the edge of the penalty area, who politely thanked him for it and scored to make it 3-1 from the hosts' perspective. As the game progressed, there was very little action in the attacking ranks of both teams, so the score remained 3-1 until the final whistle. FC Südtirol therefore finished the 2016/17 Lega Pro Championship with 47 points in 13th place in the table.

The season ends with a defeat for the FCS

FC Südtirol lost the last game of the Lega Pro Championship 2016/17 season. After four 1-0 wins in a row, Michael Cia and Co. suffered a 1-3 away defeat against Mantova on Sunday afternoon.
