Lackluster FC Südtirol leaves points in Cuneo

FC Südtirol had withdrawn to the “Novarello” sports center for the first half of the week in order to be able to face the game feeling rested. After all, FCS hasn't lost an away game in two months. After the 2-2 draw on Sunday in Como, it wasn't enough to win a full point today either.

Coach Stefano Vecchi, who was able to use almost everything he had and once again preferred Maritato over Testardi in the center of attack, had to watch as his charges had great difficulty taking control of the game right from the start. There were few chances to score, especially in the first half. The approximately 700 spectators had to wait half an hour for the first excitement, when FCS goalie Marcone was tested with two long-range shots. It was only immediately before the break that the guests were able to break free from their grip and fire their first warning shot with Maritato.

However, the resistance was only short-lived, because after the break the Cuneo players, who had not won since December 22nd, took the scepter back into their hands. Even the substitutions of Bertoni, Testardi and Campo could not inspire FC Südtirol's game. On the contrary: in the final phase the Piedmontese, who had to play with ten men after Arcari was excluded (78th), were significantly closer to the winning goal. In the 88th minute, goalkeeper Marcone went above and beyond and defused a header from Palazzolo. This was the last chance in a game that had few highlights.

FC Südtirol remains in third place in the table. The next championship game awaits Fink and Co. on Sunday when AC Reggiana plays in the Drusus Stadium.
