Halim Kumrija banned for five years after referee attack

The incident, which caused a lot of excitement in the local football scene, occurred last Sunday in the 82nd minute of the state league game between Stegen and Bozner Boden, in which the home team was 2-0 ahead.

After the second warning, Halim Kumrija was sent off by the referee. The offensive player's fuses probably blew. Kumrija knocked the referee to the ground with a headbutt. The referee collapsed and remained on the ground with pain in the nose area and dizziness. He was no longer able to resume the match. After initial treatment, the referee had to be taken to the local hospital, from where he was discharged with injuries that took 15 days to heal.

While representatives of both clubs were providing first aid, another footballer from Bozner Boden is said to have approached the referee, splashed water in his face with a drinking bottle and said to him: "Get up, he hasn't done anything to you." Kumrija is said to have repeated these words as he walked past the referee's booth, where the referee was waiting to be taken to the hospital. This is what the letter from the football association says.

The sanctions The sports judge banned Halim Kumrija until May 14, 2020, exactly five years. The game was scored 3-0 for Stegen. Bolzano Boden was fined 500 euros. An investigation is also being launched to locate the second Bozner Boden player who is said to have splashed water in the referee's face.

Halim reports on Facebook On Monday afternoon, Halim Kumrija took a stand on his Facebook page. His post is publicly viewable. Kumriya writes. "You can say to me whatever you want, ok, I made a mistake. In a black moment of the game I didn't think and committed this terrible act and there is no doubt about it! I repeat, it is an unforgivable mistake and I I will bear the consequences. But it is unacceptable for the newspapers to inflate the facts in such a way that my Albanian roots are highlighted, as if it made any difference that a newspaper writes "Referee struck down with headbutts" and sent to hospital with a "concussion was committed" and that I am being defined as a "criminal" by some moralizers without them knowing the facts. I repeat that I do not absolve myself of my guilt. But I have the right to have the facts presented objectively!! !"

Bolzano Boden also takes a position Halim Kumrija's club, Bozner Boden, also commented on the incident on the social network on Monday. "Bozner Boden announces that the player Alim Kumrija has been removed from the team after the unforgivable behavior. The now ex-Bozner Boden player will take responsibility for his actions with the responsible authorities. Bozner Boden underlines its total dissent for the situation that occurred and would like to say that the players and supervisors immediately took care of the referee's health. The club and the team express their solidarity to the game director."
