A bitter setback for FC Südtirol

FCS coach Paolo Zanetti once again had to play without the injured Broh in the third home game of the season. He sent exactly the team onto the field that impressed in the 1-1 draw in Trieste last weekend.

However, the performance against Bassano was far less convincing. From the start, the guests from Veneto were the better team in the Drusus Stadium. After two penalty situations on both sides, Gianluca Laurenti gave Bassano the lead in the 12th minute. He moved from a central position and left all FCS players behind. Afterwards, the white and reds tried to react, but repeatedly failed due to Bassano's defensive bar or their own inability. The only excitement came from the other side when Diop hit the ball past the FCS goal shortly before half-time.

Berardocco only scores in added time

After the break, Costantino and Cia appeared dangerous, but both were unable to endanger the visitors' lead with their shots. After that, the game plodded along for a long time - until Bassano suddenly stepped on the accelerator again in the 81st minute. After a cross from Andreoni, substitute Grandolfo failed to hit the post, but Abou Diop was wide awake and scored with a follow-up shot to make it 2-0. That meant the game was formally decided, even if midfielder Luca Berardocco gave hope again with a converted penalty in stoppage time. But it was already too late to catch up successfully.

Bassano remains close to leaders Pordenone, while FC Südtirol is stuck in the bottom of the table.

A bitter setback for FC Südtirol

FC Südtirol's first home defeat is sealed: Hannes Fink & Co. lost 1-2 to Bassano Virtus in front of their own team. The performance revealed hurts much more than the fact that this defeat meant that we had to lose contact with the top half of the table.
