Today at 15 p.m.: Home debut for FC Südtirol

“Of course it’s not a game like any other,” Werner Seeber puts it bluntly. The football official from Brixen has been the strong man at Bassano Virtus, the Lega Pro club run by the DIESEL empire, for two years. With this statement, Seeber is of course alluding to his past at FC Südtirol. “In total, I worked for the FCS for six years, albeit in various functions. The separation in the summer of 2009 didn't go smoothly, but that's a thing of the past. I maintain good contacts with many of the club's management. I'm looking forward to seeing players like Fischnelller, Fink, Cia and Kiem, who were already playing in Bozen when I was there," explains Seeber, who definitely wants to take three points away from his homeland with newly promoted Bassano. “After the confident promotion last year, we are staying true to our line of the last two or three years and continue to rely on young players. An away win against FCS would give them a special boost.” The start of the season went quite wrong with the 0-1 home win against Pavia.

However, Werner Seeber is not the only person in charge who wants to get one over on his former club on Saturday. Claudio Rastelli, the coach of FC Südtirol, who led Bassano to fourth place in the 2012nd Division together with Seeber in the 13/2 season. “The team was in transition that season, but we almost got promoted. Then as now, Bassano is characterized by a strong team structure. The defeat against Pavia was very unfortunate, the team had previously impressed in the cup against Livorno and Lazio. So we are forewarned,” says Rastelli in a video interview on the FCS homepage.

The White-Red coach is expecting a really tough one for the home premiere, even though the target can only be: three points! After the goalless draw at the start of the championship in Como, a “threesome” would be extremely important in order to avoid a stuttering start. The FCS coach can again rely on the recently suspended Branca, Pacifico and Kiem on Saturday. With the captain, Fabian Tait, Hannes Fink, Michael Cia and Manuel Fiwickeler, five South Tyroleans could be in the starting line-up for the first time. Davide Petermann, who was brought from Palermo ten days ago, is also pushing for a regular place. Meanwhile, Croatian Ivan Lendric could make his debut in the center of the attack. The injured Max Tagliani and Alessandro Furlan will certainly be missing from the FCS.
