To call Honda a jack of all trades in the football business is almost an understatement. The 33-year-old Japanese has already played in Holland, Mexico, Russia, Australia and Italy during his career. He has also been an assistant coach for the Cambodia national team since 2018. He has also played 98 international matches (37 goals) for his country.

But all of this wasn't enough to find an employer. So Honda took matters into its own hands and pitched itself to various clubs via Twitter over the course of the fall. So he asked Manchester United and his former club Milan whether they needed his help. Because the two clubs apparently didn't get in touch, Honda desperately asked the group a few days ago: “Why don't you make me offers? I’m definitely still one of the best footballers in Asia.”

Now, however, an offer has arrived – from Holland. Vitesse Arnheim offered the Japanese a contract until the end of the season and Honda signed him. The offensive player also owes his commitment to coach Leonid Slutski, who already had him under his wing at CSKA Moscow.
