Women’s football: “Broader base is necessary”

She has been the big figurehead in South Tyrolean women's football for more than a decade. Katja Schroffenegger from Karneid is now 31 years old and is starting her 28th Serie A season on Sunday, August 6th with an away match at AC Milan, the third at AC Fiorentina. In the interview, Schroffenegger commented in detail on current topics in women's football.

The lavish football festival at the European Championships in England ended 25 days ago, and in 2 days, everyday life in Serie A will begin again for you and your club Fiorentina away against AC Milan: Have you been able to catch your breath lately? Katja Schroffenegger: “I had 10 days of vacation after our preliminary round exit at the European Championships. I spent the time at home in Karneid. I started training two weeks after my teammates at Fiorentina, that was during the training camp in Moena. Last Friday we played a friendly away against Atletico Madrid and lost 2-0. It was a good test, we are prepared for the start of Serie A.”
