Cagliari follows FC Südtirol into the semi-finals

The Serie B playoff semi-final participants have been complete since Saturday evening. In the last preliminary round game, Cagliari Calcio prevailed against Venezia.

Two strong teams, Cagliari and Venezia, met in the Sardinian capital. In the duel between last year's two relegated first division teams, Cagliari secured the last semi-final ticket for the promotion games. The Ranieri squad beat Venezia 2-1 and will now face Parma in the semi-finals from Tuesday.

Goalgetter Gianluca Lapadula was crucial for Cagliari's entry into the semi-finals with two goals in the first half. The former Milan striker scored his goals of the season 22 and 23 against Venezia. First Lapadula was there after a cross from Nandez, only four minutes later he took advantage of a defensive mistake by the Lagunenstädter team. The visitors' goal in the 52nd minute ultimately didn't change anything.

Cagliari – Venice 2:1
1:0 Lapadula (14th), 2:0 Lapadula (18th), 2:1 Pierini (52nd)
