The FCS golden boy: “We are living our dream”

Daniele Casiraghi makes an entire province dream of big things: with his golden goal against Reggina, he shot FC Südtirol into the Serie B playoff semi-finals. After the match, the offensive man was overjoyed, but also highly focused again.

April 24, 2022 has gone down in South Tyrolean football history. At that time, FC Südtirol secured the championship title in Serie C thanks to a 2-0 win against Triestina and was promoted to Italy's second highest league for the first time. Double goalscorer back then: Daniele Casiraghi. Now, a year later, the White Reds have achieved something historic again. With a 1-0 win over Reggina Pierpaolo Bisoli's team made it to the semi-finals of the Serie B playoffs. Gold goal scorer: Daniele Casiraghi again, who shook the Drususstadion in the 89th minute.

The 30-year-old Lombard is and remains the man for the important goals at FC Südtirol. His late goal against Reggina in front of an impressive crowd at the Drusus Stadium is certainly one of the most memorable of his career, although Casiraghi explains: “The two goals in Trieste a year ago were the greatest emotions I have ever had. Of course, this goal against Reggina also caused a lot of joy.”

“An extension would have been tough.” Danielle Casiraghi

How did he experience this very late goal? “I shot in the penalty area, the ball was deflected and it went in. It was just important that he went in because after that it would have gone into extra time and it would have been tough.”

A real football fever has broken out in South Tyrol.

On Monday, FC Südtirol will face Bari at 20.30:2 p.m., the game will be played in the Drususstadion. The second leg will take place on Friday, June XNUMXnd in Puglia. For Bari, two draws are enough because of their better position in the table. But this FC Südtirol is a very tough nut to crack for every opponent. And that's why you can dream big with the White Reds. “I am overjoyed that we can continue on this path,” said Casiraghi, who also added: “We are living our dream here, but we also deserve to be where we are.”
