The series continues! FCS wobbles but doesn't fall

Since the 0-4 defeat at Reggina on August 28th, exactly 3 months ago, the FCS has not been able to bend. After Pierpaolo Bisoli took over as coach, the White-Reds have never lost in 11 games (5 wins and 6 draws) - an incredible series. This was in acute danger in the home game against Ascoli on Sunday. But Matteo Rover scored the much celebrated 86-2 final score in the well-filled (but not sold out this time) Drusus Stadium in the 2th minute.

The equalizer was more than deserved. With the exception of the first 10 minutes, the FCS was the better team and had significantly more chances than Ascoli. The guests, who spent a total of 16 seasons in Serie A, came with more than 600 fans from the Marche and created an atmospheric atmosphere.

In stoppage time, substitute Michele Marconi, who made his comeback after 3 months, almost scored the winning goal for FC Südtirol. But the striker missed miserably from the edge of the penalty area. FC Südtirol continues next Sunday with a home game against league leaders Frosinone.

In the 56th minute, the referee points to the penalty spot: Ascoli goalscorer Ciciretti keeps his elbow above his head during a free kick from Nicolussi Caviglia and touches the ball. Substitute Casiraghi converted the penalty into a deserved equalizer. Bitter counterattack In the 65th minute, Odogwu missed a good FCS chance. Almost in return, Ascoli takes the lead again: Caligara runs through the entire midfield and shoots at the edge of the penalty area. His shot is slightly deflected by Zaro, Poluzzi flies wide. Pure drama In the 75th minute, Odogwu hits the crossbar with a header. Rover equalized 10 minutes later. The winger takes the shot from a slight angle in the penalty area and aims it precisely into the far corner. The VAR checks the goal because of a confusing scene in the penalty area, but the goal counts - 2:2! In stoppage time, substitute Marconi missed the winning goal from the edge of the penalty area.
