FC Südtirol has made national headlines in recent days. But less because of the exhilarating sporting high (which would have deserved at least as much attention), but rather because of a fan.

Damian Gruber became a hero of the internet community because he was the only supporter in the away sector in the away game against Benevento. In fact, at least two other die-hard FCS fans made the more than 800 kilometer journey to Benevento to support the team. They were now showered with praise by coach Pierpaolo Bisoli – and were also given a promise.

“People who travel so many kilometers during the week to cheer on the team, who make so many sacrifices, that’s a special thing.” At the same time, Bisoli also made a promise: “One of the fans in Benevento has yes receive a team jersey.
