FC Südtirol remains a stumbling block: Genoa stumbles in Bolzano

After the 0-0 draw against leaders Frosinone on the last matchday, FC Südtirol also held second-placed Genoa to a goalless draw. With this strong performance, Bisoli's team has also consolidated its playoff position. Since Parma suffered a late 2-2 draw in Benevento, the FCS are still two points ahead of the former European Cup winners in fourth place. In addition, Parma could be deducted a point due to financial irregularities.

But it's not just FC Südtirol that is still on track after this draw. Genoa is also continuing its race towards Serie A unhindered. The team of coach and world champion Alberto Gilardino with its stars including ex-national player Domenico Criscito, Kevin Strootman (ex-Roma), Stefano Sturaro (ex-Juve) and Milan Badelj (formerly Lazio and Fiorentina) has only played one game since the beginning of December lost. This means that FC Südtirol will have to do without its trainer in the away game in Terni on Saturday. The South Tyroleans then have to play games against Cittadella (home) and Modena (away) before the playoffs really get down to business. With an eight point lead over ninth-placed Ascoli, their place in the promotion round can hardly be taken away.
