Last minute shock: FCS series breaks in the top game

One thing in advance: The fans in the sold-out Drusus Stadium didn't get to see a nice football game on Monday. Opportunities were in short supply and the spectacle was also limited. Nevertheless, FC Südtirol would have deserved a point. In the 93rd minute of all times, the FCS – after 12 games without defeat – lost the home game against Bari 0-1.

The FCS had to do without three regular players on Monday. In addition to the suspended Alessandro Celli and the injured midfield engine Luca Belardinelli, Andrea Masiello was also missing - due to his explosive betting past as a Bari player. The approximately 600 visiting fans who traveled along mocked their former defender with chants towards the end of the game.

Despite the failures, the FCS largely did a good job - especially in the early stages and over large parts of the second half of the game. However, the search for top opportunities was in vain. But Bari didn't offer much to the fans in Bolzano either. The guests from Apulia had more of the game, but were rarely dangerous. Shortly before, substitute FCS player Marco Pompetti had been shown the red card for a serious foul in midfield.

Out of nowhere Ceter extends a cross with his heel in stoppage time and Morachioli pushes the ball into the far corner from the inside of the penalty area. It was Curto's turn, but he couldn't prevent the goal.

The FCS remains in fourth place in the table – and is therefore on course towards the playoff semi-finals. The lead over Reggina is four points. Just like the gap to third-placed Bari. The Bisoli squad continues on Saturday with an away game at Ascoli.
