Matteo Rover warms all FCS hearts

The First half of the season against Modena went wrong, but now FC Südtirol is back on track. The promoted team defeated long-standing first division club Brescia 1-0. At temperatures close to freezing, a good 4000 spectators came to the Drusus Stadium. Their hearts were warmed by Matteo Rover, who decided the game with a remarkable goal.

First and foremost, this success is special for Pierpaolo Bisoli. The FC Südtirol coach scored three points for the first time in the sixth duel with Dimitri Bisoli. The son led the Lombards onto the field as captain, but showed a pale performance before the eyes of his great mentor.

It was father Bisoli who held the key to success that day. He brought in defender Alessandro Celli, a new addition from the start (substitute goalkeeper Stefano Minelli and Andrea Giorgini were on the bench) and at the same time relied on Simone Mazzocchi as the only striker. A new guy in the starting line-up The team that Bisoli sent into the race was perfectly set up defensively - as was so often the case in the first half of the season - and did not allow Brescia and their attack tank Stefano Moreo to develop. This was bitter for the 1000 Brescia fans. After supporting their team for a long time more loudly than any other visiting fans in the Drusus Stadium, they protested vehemently against their team's performance and the controversial club owner Massimo Cellino.

The key scenes Brescia whirls away The initial phase clearly belongs to the guests: First, Adorni doesn't hit the ball correctly from five meters and FCS goalie Poluzzi is able to save, then Moreo heads just wide. Pallet stroker The FCS had their first chance in the 20th minute when a free kick from Casiraghi slipped over the crossbar. Rover's thunderbolt FCS striker Rover isn't actually in a dangerous situation, but then he suddenly leaves two opponents standing at once and shoots from the edge of the penalty area. The ball turns outwards and hits to make it 1-0. Brescia goalkeeper Lezzerini doesn't cut a good figure (30th). Penalty, yes or no? After supposed contact with Curto, Brescia's Ndoj goes down and the referee points to the spot. After minutes of discussion with the VAR and viewing the TV images, the decision is revised. Ndoj was already there at the penalty spot. What a horror In the 90th minute, Brescia suddenly had a huge chance: Ndoj shot from 16 meters and the ball crashed into the crossbar. That was lucky for the FCS. After that it's over! With this victory, the FCS moves past the major clubs Cagliari and Parma in the table and consolidates its playoff position. The White-Reds continue next Saturday (14 p.m.) with the guest appearance in Venice.

The start of the new year was a success! FC Südtirol got off to an acclaimed start to the second half of the season against Brescia in the “freezer” Drusus Stadium on Sunday.
