Playoffs: This is how things continue for FC Südtirol

FC Südtirol missed direct qualification for the Serie B playoff semi-finals due to a 1-2 defeat on Friday evening in Modena. The white-reds now have to go through the preliminary round. There is the timetable here.

Because of a weak first half in Modena, 4th place didn't work out for the FCS: The Bisoli team slipped two places on the last matchday and will now face Reggina at home next Friday. The Calabrese qualified as 1th in the table with a late 0-94 win against Ascoli (the winning goal came in the 7th minute). still for the playoff preliminary round. Around two weeks ago, this would have been almost unthinkable because Reggina was deducted 7 points due to financial irregularities. They suddenly got 2 points back last Thursday (SportNews berichtete).

In the two direct duels in the regular season, both Reggina and the FCS won once. The South Tyroleans went down 0-4 in Reggio Calabria at the end of August. To date, this is the promoted team's worst defeat in Serie B; at the time, interim coach Leandro Greco was still on the bench. At the end of January there was revenge in the Drusus Stadium when the FCS won 2-1 with a brace from Raphael Odogwu.

In the playoffs the cards will be reshuffled anyway. As table 6th. FC Südtirol has home advantage against Reggina. The winner advances to the semi-finals. If there is still a draw after 90 minutes plus extra time, the FCS is through because it is better placed in the championship. Bari will then wait for the winner in the semi-finals. From there there is a return game. Which team will ultimately be promoted to Serie A will be decided on Sunday, June 11th.
