Noah Mayr twirls in Serie D

How did you settle in at Virtus Bozen?

“Since I completed the training camp in Ridnaun with FC Südtirol, I only joined the team later. Nevertheless, I was able to settle in quickly and excellently at Virtus. We have a really great group, with the right mix of young and experienced players.”

How important is Virtus coach Alfredo Sebastiani for you?

“The coach is truly a football teacher and has tons of knowledge of the game. Every year he manages to form a great team. He also conveys ideas that I can only share myself.”

Won the first game and scored himself. Your Serie D debut couldn't have been better, right?

“Personally, I didn't expect such a debut as it is always difficult to play your first game in a new team and league. My goal is always to give it my all and improve week after week. But of course not all games will go that well.”

Have you noticed any major differences between Virtus Bozen and FC Südtirol?

“It is difficult to compare clubs from different leagues. I noticed slight differences in terms of technical level, as we really train them a lot at Virtus. A big difference, however, is that, in contrast to FC Südtirol, many players at Virtus work, study or still go to school. At FC Südtirol, however, football determines everyday life.”

What do you think Virtus Bozen can do in Serie D?

“We have all the prerequisites to play in a great championship. Of course, the primary goal remains to stay in the league. But I am convinced that if we give our maximum in every game and maintain the necessary consistency, we will secure a place in midfield.”

What goals are you pursuing in your career?

“For me personally, this season is a really important one. I'm pursuing the goal of making the leap to becoming a full professional and I always do my best to achieve this. I would love to one day be an integral part of FC Südtirol, the club where I grew up. Also through stints with other teams to gain the necessary experience if necessary.”

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

“The highlight so far was definitely my debut in the FC Südtirol professional team in the semi-final of the Serie C Italian Cup against Fidelis Andria.”

How did that moment feel?

What do you think the FCS can do in Serie B?

“It will certainly be anything but easy, but I am convinced that FC Südtirol will manage to stay in the league until the end. The new coach Pierpaolo Bisoli and the new purchases will play a crucial role in this.”

Which teammate has impressed you the most in your career and why?

“I am really impressed by Simone Davi and his journey to Serie B. He is proof that young players should never give up to achieve their goals. At FC Südtirol I was also able to learn a lot from Fabian Tait and Marco Moscati. Thanks in particular to Fabian Tait, I was able to develop extremely mentally. Virtus Bozen also has players like Arnaldo Kaptina, Davide Cremonini and Yassine Bounou from whom I can learn every day.”

Noah Mayr twirls in Serie D

At the age of 17, young talent Noah Mayr has experienced a lot. Last season he was able to make appearances in the FC Südtirol professional team and is playing for Virtus Bozen in Serie D this year. SportNews now asked Mayr for an interview.
