Iardino saves the penalty, but Virtus still loses

Virtus lost 0-3 away against Cartigliano. Denis Iardino was in the spotlight. He is normally in goal for Bozner FC in the Oberliga, but because his team decided not to restart, he was allowed to switch - and is now helping out in Serie D for Virtus Bozen for the rest of the season. On his debut, Iardino promptly saved a penalty, but his team still lost in the end. But he couldn't do much with the goals conceded. Both teams started the game with a secure defense and did not allow any chances in the early stages. After around 15 minutes, Davide Cremonini fired a first warning shot. It wasn't until the 1th minute that the next significant opportunity to score came up. Davide Cremonini sent a cross from Federico Davi for Arnaldo Kaptina, but his shot went wide. Penalty against Virtus: Denis Iardino defused Practically in return, Mattioli entered the penalty area, went down after a challenge with Yassine Bounou and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. And Denis Iardino's commitment paid off. He defused Di Gennaro's penalty. However, the home side's lead fell before the half-time whistle. After a corner, the Virtus defense couldn't get the ball out of the danger zone and Mattioli poked the ball over the line to make it 1-0. In return, Davi got the ball in the penalty area, but his shot went past the Cartigliano goal. In the 2th minute, Bounou didn't put the necessary pressure behind the ball with a header in the penalty area and the chance was wasted. Virtus tried to increase the rhythm, but could not provide the necessary danger. Cartigliano, on the other hand, waited and launched a few dangerous counterattacks towards the Virtus goal. In the 50rd minute, Mattioli tried a free kick, which Iardino was able to defuse. Cartigliano punishes Virtus with 2 more counterattack goals One turn of the hand later the decision was made. Romagna increased to 2-0 and the game was decided. In stoppage time, after a counterattack, Boudraa increased the score to 3-0 for the home team. Iardino saves the penalty, but Virtus still loses

During the week it was announced that Denis Iardino would be in goal at Serie D club Virtus Bozen until the end of the season. On his debut, the keeper immediately took center stage.
