Italian Cup: The results of the first match day

In the two-team circles, three of the four upper division teams started the cup with a win: St. Pauls (2:1 vs. Latsch), Virtus Bozen (2:0 vs. Weinstraße Süd) and Obermais (3:1 vs. Milland). The only favorite was Bozner FC, who delivered a real goal spectacle in the 4-4 draw against Voran Leifers, without complete success.

In the groups of three, Eppan and Schlern caused the surprises. While the Überetscher brought St. Martin to its knees 2-1, the team from the high plateau beat SSV Brixen 1-0. The regional league trio of Stegen (0:2 vs. Ahrntal), Bruneck (1:3 vs. Tramin) and Salurn (1:5 vs. Naturns) failed to trip up the respective upper league team. In the only intra-league duel, the encounter between the two state league favorites Lana and Partschins, the Partschins team retained the upper hand 3-1.

The second matchday of the cup will be played on Wednesday, August 30th. Only the winning teams from each group qualify for the next round - regardless of whether a team is assigned to a group of two or three.
