“Jergina” stops the series of bankruptcies, but misses a breakthrough

The only South Tyrolean club in Serie D was undoubtedly the team that dominated the game in the first half. Fabian Obrist shot on goal in the second minute, but was denied by the Pro Sesto goalkeeper. Almost 20 minutes later, “Jergina” had another chance through Gabriel Brugger, whose header went just wide of the goal.

In the 30th minute, the Pusterers were finally rewarded for their hard fighting effort: Peter “Magic” Mair showed off his goalscoring qualities and scored 1-0 after a pass from Armin Mayr. It was Mair who scored the 1-0 winning goal in the first leg.

This time, however, things were to be different, because immediately after the restart, Cortinovis equalized for Pro Sesto. St. Georgen tried to defend quickly, but Rabensteiner and Obrist's final attempts were not successful. In the 78th minute Obrist tried again, but this time the opposing goalkeeper stood in his way. Then the home team had used up their powder and Pro Sesto pressed for the winning goal again. In the 81st minute, Pietersteiner blocked a shot from Valtulina, and in added time Battaglino shot twice wide of the goal. Then the final result was 1:1.

“Jergina” stops the series of bankruptcies, but misses a breakthrough

For the first time since January 30th, the Puster fifth division team can look forward to winning a point. However, it wasn't enough for the long-awaited liberation on Thursday against Pro Sesto, who were in danger of relegation. Relegation therefore remains a long way off.
