Kaiserslautern with a happy ending in the snow

Kaiserslautern (SID) 1. FC Kaiserslautern can continue to dream of staying in the 2nd Bundesliga. The bottom team prevailed in a hotly contested game against former promotion aspirants Union Berlin 4:3 (2:1) and thus regained visual contact with the saving bank with 24 points nine game days before the end of the season. It was the fourth win in the sixth game under the new FCK coach Michael Frontzeck. Brandon Borrello (6th) got the hosts off to a dream start before Sebastian Andersson equalized with an own goal (36th). In the 41st minute, the Swede hit the right goal before Steven Skrzybski (51st) was successful for the Berliners. FCK captain Christoph Moritz converted a penalty kick awarded by Marvin Friedrich to Borrello in the 66th minute, before the visitors managed to equalize again through Skrzybski (81') - but Phillipp Mwene (86') scored the celebrated final point for the FCK. In front of 20.087 spectators, Borrello caused the Betzenberg to shake after a few minutes with his Sunday shot. The Australian outwitted Union goalkeeper Daniel Mesenhöler with an arc lamp from around 30 meters. In the period that followed, the Köpenickers initially took control. Union captain Felix Kroos failed to hit the post in the eleventh minute. Andersson and Philipp Mwene couldn't get past Mesenhöler at the other end before striker Andersson headed into his own goal after an unsuccessful defensive action in his own penalty area. A little later he made amends for his mistake with his seventh goal of the season. After the break, Berlin was once again in charge. After the 2-2 score, the guests had further chances to score, but with a lob, Moritz initiated a crazy final phase with a happy ending for his team.
