Kiem: “The scene can’t get out of my head” – Piazzi is angry

Immediately after the end of the game, team captain Hannes Kiem was the first to speak. He made an appeal to his teammates: “It’s clear that everyone is disappointed. However, we must not let ourselves down. We have achieved great things this season. Every single one of us.” However, the disappointment was also written on the face of the longest-serving FCS professional: “The game started so well, the team was really on the rise. The unfortunate goal then broke our necks. This scene won’t get out of my head any time soon.”

Hannes Fink visibly struggled for words in the press interview after the game. "What should I say now? I am just sad. We missed out on a huge opportunity. The impressions are far too fresh, I just can’t analyze the game yet,” said the Ritten midfielder.

Piazzi: “Why did they choose this referee?”

While the FC Südtirol players were still trying to digest the defeat, sports director Luca Piazzi already found clear words: “I am beside myself with anger. The referee decided the game. Cosenza (Pro Vercelli defender, editor's note) should have been sent off with a red card in the first half, but instead he later sent Branca off the pitch, where he was clearly brought down in the penalty area. Referee Pezzuto has whistled against Pro Vercelli several times in the past. It seemed like he wanted to make amends.”

FCS coach Claudio Rastelli takes the same line: “His questionable decisions shaped the game. Nevertheless, I want to congratulate Pro Vercelli. As second in the table, they certainly deserve promotion.”

Scavone: “The disappointment from last year has been forgotten”

However, one South Tyrolean was able to celebrate after the final whistle, namely Manuel Scavone. He returns to Serie B with Pro Vercelli. “The disappointment after relegation last year was deep. But now everything is forgotten. My big goal was to return to Serie B. It's a shame for FC Südtirol, who certainly would have deserved more. I am convinced that my former teammates will quickly get back on their feet.”
