Klaus Schuster: “Obermais has to become more modest again”

Especially last Sunday, on the third matchday in the top regional league, the Burggräfler suffered a terrible defeat at home in the 0-3 defeat against Brixen. A defeat that also brought with it the first personnel change: Harald Kiem has resigned from his position as assistant coach and will in future concentrate exclusively on what is happening on the pitch as a player.

The air that you currently breathe on the “Lahn” is therefore rather thick. Because the Obermais team started the 2012/13 season under all expectations. After three matchdays, the white and blue only have two points, not to mention a win. Of course, this also has an impact on the table situation. Although 13th place in the ranking is by no means worrying. But the causes of this false start must be investigated. And who could do this better than Klaus Schuster, the FCO coach: “It’s a difficult moment for us. But there's no need to make a drama out of it now. There are three game days over. Of course, some aspects are negative and need to be analyzed urgently.”

In the preparatory games, Obermais particularly shone against Palermo and FC Südtirol. These good performances seem to have had a negative impact on some players' egos. “I think we were too euphoric after these games and lost sight of reality a little. The championship is a different ball game than the summer friendlies. We are currently missing Andreas Klotzner in every corner and then we have made too many individual mistakes in the championship so far, which our opponents have taken cold advantage of,” explains Schuster.

The defense is wobbling

Last year, Obermais conceded 31 goals throughout the entire championship, and Burggräfler didn't concede a single goal in 14 games. This year the FCO box has already rung nine times in three games. “Of course that has to give us something to think about. But you can't just blame it on the defense. If things don’t go as they should, then midfielders and attackers also bear their responsibility,” continues Schuster.

First personnel decisions After the defeat against Brixen, the first personnel decision was made. Harald Kiem is no longer Klaus Schuster's assistant coach, but will concentrate exclusively on what is happening on the pitch as a midfielder. “I hope that this decision will be seen as a wake-up call by the team. We want to collect the necessary points to stay in the league as quickly as possible so that we can tick this off as quickly as possible. The game calendar wasn't particularly advantageous for us either. Now it’s time to start a new chapter with a lot of work, commitment and the necessary humility,” continued Schuster.

Visiting Ala on Sunday

On Sunday Obermais meets Alense in Ala. The Trentino team is still unbeaten this year and scored points away against Salurn last weekend. In just under ten days the Unterlandlers will be the next guests on the “Lahn”, who are one of the favorites to win the championship this year. “Every game has its own rules. In our current situation, we don’t need to have eyes for our opponents, we only need to look at ourselves.”
