But as we all know, the most beautiful things in life always happen when you least expect them - like yesterday. On paper, Roland Antholzer's team was inferior to teams like AC Aichnerhof and Xunden. But with tactical masterstrokes and not least thanks to an outstanding goalkeeper Günther Debelyak, the pot was finally brought to Montiggl at the sixth attempt.

Already in the group phase it became clear that the Debelyak brothers & Co. wanted to know it this year. As first place, they rushed straight into the quarter-finals, where the Bombers Terlan did not pose a major obstacle for the Antholz team. In the semifinals there was a big showdown against the favorites AC Aichnerhof. In several scenes, goalie and OC member Günther Debelyak surpassed himself and defended the narrow lead achieved by Andrea Furlato. In the parallel circle, the Xunden around Christian Scherer also had to admit defeat to the Hosloch Sarner Topper 0-1, Ralf Hofer scored the decisive goal with a hammer shot.

After AC Aichnerhof won the penalty shootout for third place, the big finale came: Both teams didn't want to risk too much, which also had an impact on the course of the game: fewer concrete scoring chances and more ball pushing in midfield. So it's not surprising that a penalty shootout had to be used to determine the winner. And when Günther Debelyak was able to defuse Ralf Hofer's last penalty, the victory was finally in the clear - and the joy at Kleiner Montiggler See was huge.

The award ceremony was something special: In view of the 25th anniversary, the OK team honored not only the victorious teams, but also various teams, sponsors and individual players who have played a key role in shaping the tournament's history. Martin Unterholzner, like Gerd Vieider, took part in 24 editions, and the Xunden team was even represented by at least one team every year. And player of the quarter century? That was the Austrian small-field legend Franz Blümel.
