However, Hofer's transfer to the regional league only came about via a detour. After relegation from Serie D, the blond boy originally wanted to remain loyal to Virtus - but the people of Bolzano couldn't find an agreement on another loan with his parent club Lana, where the player rights lie. Because Hofer expected to stay in Bolzano, he turned down other offers from Bozner FC and Naturn in the meantime. When it finally became clear that Virtus was planning without him, the striker decided to play for Lana again.

“One of the most interesting players at state level” Lana: A place that Hofer will be happy to return to. The Gargazonian not only spent part of his youth with today's national league team, but also became one of the most dangerous attackers in the region in their first team. From summer 2013 to winter 2015 he scored a whopping 64 goals in the Lananer dress - in the 2013/14 season the exceptional striker was even named the best goalscorer in the entire South Tyrolean amateur scene with 27 goals.

The step that followed in December 2015 was a logical one: Hofer moved to the then Oberliga leaders Virtus Bozen. Presented by the Talferstadt team as “one of the most interesting players at the state level”, the striker did not disappoint and contributed to Serie D promotion with eight goals in the second half of the season. The following year was not the year of Lukas Hofer: the Gargazonian was out for a long time due to a collarbone injury, had to make do with three goals this season and was relegated to the top league with the Bolzano team.

Back to the roots Now Hofer is running for Lana again. The ambitious attacker goes into the new time at his parent club with high expectations. “We want to be at the top,” says the 22-year-old, even though he emphasizes that “many other teams also have the potential to be promoted.” Hofer sees teams like Weinstraße Süd, Eppan, Leifers and Partschins as major competitors for the championship title or Merano. As always, “everything has to come together” in the end so that promotion actually works.
