State League: Things are getting hot at the top

After the end of the first half of the season, Meran, Bozner FC, Stegen and Moos were still in third to sixth place. Now the quartet has taken the lead, albeit in a slightly different order. Last Sunday, Bozner FC returned to first place in the table with a 3-1 win against Pichl Gsies. The teams from Moos, Meran and Stegen are only two or three points ahead and want to challenge the class leaders for the top spot on Sunday.

It won't be easy for the three pursuers. With 16 points collected in the second half of the season, the orange-blacks are the team of the moment and, especially at home, a force. In this year's championship, coach Flavio Toccolli's boys suffered four defeats, but they only suffered one defeat in front of their home crowd, namely on the eleventh matchday against Virtus Don Bosco (1:2).

Meran, on the other hand, is burning for redemption after the bitter 0-1 home defeat against newly promoted Latsch. In the match against Bozner FC on Sunday, coach Massimo Bertinato's boys are relying primarily on their offense. Together with Neugries they have the strongest team in the league. In the first leg, the two teams shared the points (3:3), but this time the Merano team wants to take the lead with a win.

Stegen against Moos on Saturday

In the second top match, which kicks off on Saturday at 18.30 p.m., Moos and Stegen face each other. The team from the Passeier Valley is the only one that has never lost in the second half of the season and that shouldn't change this weekend either. Meanwhile, Stegen is building on the home advantage to get back to winning ways after the 1-2 defeat against newly promoted Bozner Boden and this time, unlike in the first half of the season (1-1 draw), to collect three points.
