State league season 2012-13: This is AFC St. Pauls

After a strong season (third place with 57 points), the Paulsen footballers are entering their eleventh national league year in 2012/2013. Despite their top ranking last year, they are not the favorites. The team has hardly changed, but it is still relatively young compared to the opponents. In addition, the two strikers Michael Kreiter (first half of the season) and Felix Zublasing will be missing next season.

Nevertheless, the young team from St. Pauls refuses to be defeated. “We want to collect the necessary points against relegation as quickly as possible, then we’ll see the rest,” says the first team’s sporting director, Franz Frei, describing the goal for the coming season. The “Paulsner boys” are again trained by Martin Klotzner, who is supported in his work by Helmuth Pichler and Marco Pagliani (goalie coach).

Additions Midfielder Matthias Fabi will return to the blue-whites after a three-year break in which he completed high school as a private player. The squad is completed with players from the St. Pauls-Frangart-Girlan youth development team: with Thomas Debelyak, Daniel Delueg, Alex Puff, Felix Andergassen and Aaron Dibiasi, a midfielder, two strikers and two defenders are promoted to the first team.

The team from St. Pauls started preparing for the season on Tuesday, July 17th and also played a few test games with a view to the coming season. In the first cup round of the Oberliga and Landesliga, Coach Martin Klotzner's boys compete in District D against league rivals Bozner Boden and Oberliga team Eppan. While they suffered a 0-2 defeat against Eppan on the first matchday of the three-way circle, they are without a game on Wednesday. On the first state league matchday, the “Paulsner” achieved a 1-1 draw against Stegen. The Überetscher's first goal of the 2012-13 season was scored by striker Manuel Giacomuzzi.
