State league season 2012-13: This is the ASC Sarntal/Football

Sarntal was the surprise team in the national league last season. The young Eschgfeller squad taught their opponents fear, especially in the second half of the season, and finished their first season in the national league since promotion back (2011) with 44 points in a more than respectable seventh place in the table. A result that only very few football experts would have expected from Sarnen, because before the start of the season many experts mentioned them in the same breath as a candidate for relegation.

With this successful season behind us, it is not surprising that everything in Sarntal has remained more or less the same. Almost the entire squad continues – and that is also the strength of ASC Sarntal football. Because every position is filled twice with equal players, which makes it easier to compensate for failures.

Despite last season's success, the Sarntal region has kept both feet on the ground. “We can't buy anything from last year's results this year. It all starts from zero. We want to stay in the league this year too. The second year in a league is always the more difficult,” says successful coach Ernst Eschgfeller.

Additions Dieter Fontana (midfield) and Hannes Trojer (attack) will be transferred from the youth team to the first team.

Start of training and previous results The Sarner team began preparing for the 2012/13 state league season in mid-July. Sarntal was narrowly eliminated from the cup in the first round. After a surprising 1-0 home win against the upper division club FC Bozen 96, there was a 1-2 defeat against Neugries, although Sarntal was leading 1-0 and played with one man more in the first minute. In the championship, President Georg Stauder's club celebrated a 3-1 win against Vintl at the start before suffering two defeats (1-2 against St. Pauls, 0-1 against Latsch).
