State league season 2012-13: This is ASV Stegen

Three years ago Stegen was relegated from the Oberliga. The team, led by Alexander Brugger, finished the last state league championship in eighth place with 33 points and thus secured relegation for another year.

However, coach Alexander Brugger will be moving to league rivals Pichl Gsies next season and, alongside him, five other players have left the club. Due to the many new additions, the Pusterers' primary goal is to form a homogeneous team and to find the right team that will be on the pitch. In terms of placement, the club is aiming for the top five next season.

The coaching reins will be taken over by Peter Ryser in 2012-13, who was already an assistant coach at Stegen in the 2005/2006 season. Markus Rieder will be at his side as assistant coach. Rieder was head coach at Stegen two years ago and moved to Ahrntal last season, where he resigned from his position early in the spring.

Additions Three new signings come from the Serie D club from St. Georgen: defender Leo Brugger, midfielder Simon Oberegger and striker Bernd Mair. Also new are goalkeeper Christian Mittermair (Mühlwald), Fabian Adang (active again) and Ulrich Brugger (Rasen-Antholz-Olang). From their own youth, however, the three midfielders Diego Carbonio, Fabian Neumari and Tobias Piffrader, as well as the striker Marc Hosp, were promoted to the first team.

Start of training and friendly games

Stegen began preparation for the season on July 13th. The team also had a few test games on its schedule. While she shot Gais out of the field with 11:2, she was left behind against the Oberliga club Ahrntal with 2:3. At the 34th Bruneck city tournament, host Stegen had the upper hand in all three matches and thus won the challenge trophy: Peter Rysser's boys won 1-0 against Dietenheim and Gsisertal and prevailed 4-1 in the final against Reischach . In the first cup game on Sunday against Brixen, Markus Mutschlechner and Co. were dispatched 4-1 by SSV Brixen. The goal was scored by Bernd Mair.
