The national cup of the 1st amateur league goes to Milland

It was the third cup final for both teams. Milland lost against Brunico in 2008, but won 2-1 against Nals the following year. Pichl Gsies, however, lost to Rasen in the 1999 cup final and won the cup in 2000 with a 4-0 win against Girlan. Today, twelve years later, three players were back with the Gsiesers: Eduard Graf, Elmar Rauter and Andreas Hofer.

In the first half, both teams offered their groups of fans few opportunities to score. Daniel Ortner from Millander had the first one, but he missed from a good position. In the 25th minute, Pichl Gsies was already celebrating the goal, but goalkeeper Daniel Larcher scratched Graf's header off the line. The violent protests of the Pichl Gsiesers achieved nothing. Shortly before, Pichl Gsies had called for a penalty after a collision in the penalty area. Before the break, Sinner also got the ball in the penalty area, but he was significantly hindered in his shot at goal and it was too weak.

The second half offered better football fare, although the game lived primarily from fighting and less from technique. In the 54th minute, Thomas Piffrader broke through on the left side, but his shot at the near corner went just wide. After an hour, Huber took a free kick for Sinner, but Larcher did a great job of deflecting his shot into the corner. Just three minutes later, Pichl Gsies had the biggest opportunity in the second half. Once again it was the lively Piffrader who prevailed on the left. Fabian Lahner shot his sharp cross in front of the Millander goal at full speed over the goal. In the 70th minute, goalkeeper Daniel Lahner made a crucial mistake when he couldn't hold on to a durable shot. Michael Burger was the quickest to recognize the situation and pushed the ball into the empty goal to make it 1-0. From this moment on, Milland skillfully defended the narrow lead. Pichl Gsies hardly found a way to get past the Millander defense. On the contrary: Milland increased the score to 81-2 in the 0st minute. After a corner, Christian Canu rose highest and headed in the final score and the cup victory.

Huge celebrations after the final whistle at Milland, but the Gsiesers left the field disappointed. For coach Johannes Piffrader it was the last game on the Gsieser bench after four seasons. Next year he will coach the Oberliga club Ahrntal.
