Lorenzo Sgarbi: “I believe in my big dream”

Sgarbi grew up at Virtus Don Bosco, and only two years ago he moved to FC Südtirol, where the physically strong striker attracted attention with 12 goals in the A-youth team last season and ultimately became the focus of several major players Clubs played. … the step of going so far from home: “Of course it wasn't easy, but if you want to achieve something you often have to make sacrifices. I live in the sports center near Naples and have been very well received here.”

…a typical day as a “young professional”: “After getting up, the players have breakfast together and then we go to school. I'm in the third year of an institute with a focus on computer science. Lunch is served at 13 p.m., a short break before the daily training begins in the afternoon. The days when there is an away game are completely different. For example, we were recently in Ukraine for a UEFA Youth League game. These are special excursions.”

… the Neapolitan football mentality: “I still have to get to know the atmosphere a little, but I think that the professional mentality is actually the same everywhere. Of course: Here you can already feel that the club is one of the most important in all of Europe. That’s a nice feeling.”

… other offers in summer: “My father was contacted by a few clubs in the summer. We went through the 'offers' together, but I wasn't entirely convinced. That's why it was a good thing that Napoli made a request to FC Südtirol. I was immediately impressed and decided to try it here. I am happy with my decision and believe in my dream.”

… contact with the Serie A team: “The older players on the Primavera team are allowed to train with the professionals. I hope that sooner or later I can enjoy this too.”

… the qualities you need to become a professional: “My uncle was a good footballer. He taught me one thing: in football, the head and the attitude are the most important thing. The rest can be trained.”
