Luca Lomi: “We have no alternative”

Coach Luca Lomi clearly sets out the route before the away game against Cavenago Fanfulla in the “Dossenina” stadium: “After two defeats in a row, there is no alternative for us. We have to score points. We desperately need points because of the situation in the table, but also psychologically and as a motivational boost. It is a very tricky game because we are facing a team that has won its last two games.”

For the away game in Lodi, coach Luca Lomi will have to do without the suspended Arnaldo Kaptina and the injured Pasquale Perri and Lukas Hofer. Those unavailable could also be joined by Moussa Coulibaly, who complained of ankle pain during the last training sessions.

The two opponents have actually met nine times in the past. Actually because both teams have changed or added their names through mergers in the meantime. Just as in Bolzano, where the Virtus Bozen club was created from the merger between Virtus Don Bosco and Bozen 96, in Lodi there was also a merger between Polisportiva Cavenago D'Adda and AC Fanfulla 1874 to form Cavenago Fanfulla in the same year. Both clubs reached their league peak after World War II, when they played in Serie B. Bolzano, however, only in the 2/1947 season. Fanfulla, on the other hand, has a total of 48 years in the second highest Italian league.

Statistically speaking, Fanfulla could also be a red flag for the Bolzano club, as in nine meetings there were five defeats and four draws. We haven't been able to celebrate a victory against the Lombards yet.
